What is Your Favorite Crochet Memory?

I’m so honored and grateful that you’re here. I’d like to share a little about my crochet journey and invite you to share yours. How did you learn how to crochet? What is one of your favorite crochet memories? I’ll go first… but please scroll down to the comments section to share your story.

Okay….Here’s my story… I learned how to crochet when I was 8-years-old. My mother taught me. She told me that she learned how to crochet at that age… as part of the war effort to create afghans to send to the soldiers on the front. She went on to crochet for charity in a variety of ways, but her favorite charity was Stitches from the Heart; an organization that crochets hats and sweaters for preemie babies.

My favorite crochet story…. how do I narrow it down. Okay, I’ll start with one from when I was 13. My mom gave me a ball of bulky, ivory-colored yarn. I took it with me when I was babysitting. I’d start to create a rectangular shawl. When I used up all the yarn, I’d rip it out and start all over again. I must have made and remade that shawl a dozen times.

What’s your favorite crochet memory or story and how did you learn how to crochet?
